Njord, the god of fertility in Norse sagas and a member of the Vanir clan, was also revered as the god of sailors and fishermen, overseeing coasts and beaches. NL3 Njord, a robust and well-balanced knife, is a delight to handle, offering an exceptional all-round utility. Its strength is derived from the laminated VG10W steel, a standout feature in the Northern Light Series, where no expense has been spared to ensure the knife is as strong, beautiful, and comfortable as possible. The knife not only captivates the eye but also provides an exhilarating user experience.

The laminated blade is crafted with an edge of VG10W steel, augmented with tungsten (W). The addition of tungsten enhances the solidity of the edge, maintaining sharpness over time. The sides are made of tough, all-stainless 420J2 steel, creating a harmonious combination of metals that embodies all desired knife properties, including resilience, torque resistance, and edge durability in a single blade. A 6 mm thick blade alone would suffice for most tasks, and with laminate technology, an additional 20% strength in resistance to bending is achieved compared to an ordinary VG10W blade.

The handle, constructed from specially selected oxhide, often overlooked by manufacturers, provides a secure and rugged grip. Aging gracefully, the handle develops an attractive brown patina over the years and remains impervious to oil, solvents, and water. While dryness may lead to small cracks, they disappear when the knife is back in use.

Persisting with the convex edge, considered the ultimate combination of cutting performance and edge strength, NL3 Njord proudly features this craftsmanship. Such an edge can only be made by hand, setting it apart from the majority of mass-produced knives. While CNC robots and grinders shape blades in mass production, achieving commendable results, true top-tier strength, corrosion resistance, edge durability, and design require the skill of a trained knifesmith.
