It's a robust chopper of exceptional quality, where no expense has been spared to create a knife that is both sturdy and visually appealing. The knife is not only a pleasure to behold but also a thrill to use.

The laminated blade is meticulously forged, featuring a VG10W steel edge with the addition of tungsten (W). The incorporation of tungsten significantly enhances the solidity of the edge, ensuring better sharpness retention, as demonstrated in our rigorous tests. The sides are crafted from tough, all-stainless 420J2 steel. This remarkable blend of metals combines various desirable knife properties, including resilience, resistance to torque, and edge durability, all within a single blade. While a 7 mm (0.28") thick blade would suffice for most tasks, the laminate technology provides an additional 20% strength in terms of resistance to bending compared to a solid VG10W blade.

A chopper is designed for heavy use, placing substantial demands on both the blade and handle. Our handle is made from specially selected oxhide, a material often overlooked by manufacturers but offering a secure and rugged grip. It ages gracefully, developing an attractive brown patina over the years, and remains unaffected by oil, solvents, and impervious to water. Dryness may cause minor cracks on the handle, but they disappear when the knife is back in use.

We maintain the convex edge, considering it the ultimate combination of cutting performance and edge strength, and the NL1 Thor knife embodies this feature. The convex edge can only be achieved through manual craftsmanship, setting it apart from the majority of mass-produced knives. While CNC robots and grinders shape blades in mass production, achieving good results, true top-tier strength, corrosion resistance, edge durability, and design can only be realized through the skilled hands of a trained knifesmith. We take pride in presenting the NL1 Thor, the inaugural model in our Northern Lights Series, aware that only the most discerning individuals will fully appreciate its qualities. It's fitting to name this chopper after Thor, the strongest and most powerful god among the Aesir, ruling over their domicile, Asgard – the strong, red-bearded god of thunder.

The knife is accompanied by a high-quality black leather sheath.

I absolutely LOVE this knife the handle is perhaps a little on the thin side for someone with large hands like myself, but aside from that it is a functional work of art, shaving sharp out of the box and after a weekend camping with chopping batonning feather sticking and pretty much everything but out and out abuse such as scraping the edge against rocks it was and is still shaving sharp, amazing knife highly recommend
