The Professional Hunter's Knife (PHK) is one of the best hunting knives in the world, where function, safety and hygiene are top priorities. The special blade design (upsweep-drop point) offers quite a long skinning edge yet without bother of a wide or clumsy blade.
The 3G stainless laminate powder steel (VG2-SGPS-VG2) offers a blade which is very strong and keeps an edge extremely well. The combination of a Thermorun handle and a stainless crossguard is both safe and comfortable. An injection-molded zytel sheath keeps the knife with double safety and is yet easy to keep clean. Is there a better hunting knife around? We don't think so.
The new injection molded zytel sheath offers a neat safe and strong combination of qualities which should be very attractive to any user.
How to Use Fallkniven PHKz 3G Powder Steel Blade Hunting Knife w/ Zytel Sheath
The Professional Hunter’s Knife, PHKz 3G from Fallkniven, is a hunting knife, which means it is one of the most durable knives you can find. It is built to be reliable when strength and resilience matter. Its upswept-point blade is one of a kind with its slightly larger proportions compared to traditional knives.
But even the sturdiest of blades cannot withstand improper use and maintenance. It is why we’re here to guide you with some upkeep and usage tips. This way, your gorgeous Fallkniven PHKz 3G will last for years.
Use Properly
PHKz is a highly versatile hunting knife. You can use it for hunting rabbits or even deer. Since it is designed for cutting, you need to have a firm grip of the handle to make it work. It is a better option than folding knives. While a quality folding knife will not cause any problems most of the time, a fixed blade is more robust and more reliable.
You get excellent control with the PHKz, which contradicts the belief that fixed knives are harder to control because of their size. This Fallkniven tool is useful for any chores, including specialised hunting jobs, such as skinning and field dressing. However, you may not want to expect a precise result. A slimmer, skinning knife is the ideal choice here, particularly if you do not want to damage the meat.
While PHKz is a multipurpose knife that you can use for almost any task, it is not recommended for cutting twigs and ropes. You can use it to gut and debone, but it may take a while to finish the entire process. Nevertheless, you can expect the finest outcome when dressing a big game animal. This hunting knife though is the first choice of any professional hunter. It is made for cutting and butchering meat using different techniques.
Clean and Store Correctly
The most important step towards a lasting hunting knife is to make sure it is clean before tucking it away. Whether you place it in a safe drawer or its injection-moulded Zytel sheath, the PHKz should first be clean and dry.
Even if you did not use the knife for killing, your hands themselves would still release oils that can make this tool dirty. If you have sweaty palms, it is even more crucial to ensure that every part of the knife is clean. Sweat has minerals like salt and ammonia, which can penetrate the knife’s metal quickly. If you do not wash and let it dry, it will eventually lead to corrosion.
Washing is easy. You can use water and mild soap. Other alternatives include warm (not hot) after, baking soda, and mild detergent. Always reach for a non-scratchy cotton cloth or anything soft enough. If there are stains that water and soap cannot remove, put salt and vinegar in a rag and pass the concoction onto the blemishes. Use a soft cloth when drying the knife.
When storing, you can simply go for the sheath that comes with the PHKz. If you will store it for a more extended period, wrap it in plain paper and place it inside a plastic bag before leaving it in the drawer.
