Frey, the Norse god associated with peace, fertility, and prosperity, as well as the ruler of trolls and elves, entities once integral to farming communities, inspired Mod. NL4 Frey. This knife transcends mere aesthetics, offering a beautiful and refined design with the added strength of laminated VG10W steel in the blade, striking a balance between strength and agility. In the Northern Light Series, no effort has been spared to ensure that the knife is exceptionally robust, visually appealing, and comfortable to use. It's not just a tool; it's a visual delight and an exhilarating experience in utility.

Starting from 2022, the blade is crafted from laminated VG10W steel, featuring a technically well-designed VG10W edge and sides made of durable, all-stainless 420J2 steel. This combination consolidates various desirable properties such as resilience, torque resistance, and edge durability into a single blade. A 5 mm thick blade alone would suffice for most tasks, and with laminate technology, an additional 20% strength is achieved in the form of resistance to bending compared to an ordinary VG10W blade.

The handle, often overlooked by manufacturers, is meticulously crafted from specially selected oxhide, providing a secure and rugged grip. Aging gracefully, the handle develops an attractive brown patina over the years, unaffected by oil, solvents, or water. While dryness may lead to small cracks, they disappear when the knife is back in use.

Persisting with the convex edge, considered the epitome of cutting performance and edge strength, NL4 Frey proudly features this craftsmanship. Such an edge can only be made by hand, setting it apart from the majority of mass-produced knives. While CNC robots and grinders shape blades in mass production, achieving commendable results, true top-tier strength, corrosion resistance, edge durability, and design require the skill of a trained knifesmith.
