WD-40 has been used to protect metal against rust and corrosion for almost 50 years. WD-40 is ideal for both large and small applications that require rust and corrosion protection.

Rocket Chemical Company and its three employees set out in 1953 to develop a line of rust-prevention solvents and degreasers for use in the aerospace sector. It took them 40 tries in a small lab in San Diego, California, to figure out the water-displacing formula. But they must have been pretty good because the original secret formula for WD-40® Multi-Use Product is still in use today.
