Milk Bar

Milk Bar was founded on a dairy farm in a small community in New Zealand. This is what truly distinguishes Milk Bar products: everything is designed on the farm, by farmers. Milk Bar works so successfully on farms all around the world because of this. Ross and Diane McInnes had a difficult time feeding their calves during the 1970s and 1980s. Calves were fed from a pail, a single feeder with a fast feeding teat, or a tube feeder where the calf sucked the milk up the tube. These feeders were labor-intensive and time-consuming, which was not feasible in the New Zealand system. Calving is a seasonal activity in New Zealand, with the bulk of calves born between eight and 10 weeks. One or two persons usually feed all of the calves. Existing feeding techniques were clearly ineffective, and a more efficient feeder was required. In 1992, the Milk Bar Teat was born, the first and only calf teat worldwide that delivers milk at the same speed as a cow and requires the calf to suckle in the natural way.
